Hi and welcome to MT pockets! That's the name of our ranch. Who is "us"? Well, the m is my husband of almost twenty years (mike) and the t is me (tanya). We also have 2 wonderful (most of the time anyways) children "boo" (our 13 year old daughter and "the boy" (our 10 year old son). December of 2005 we got this weird idea to move to the middle of nowhere and get a few "pets". So here we are a year later, occasionally wondering if we had a collective mid-life crisis, or perhaps temporary insanity?? Either way the end result has us living on a quarter section in northern Alberta (canada) with, to my husbands dismay, an ever increasing assortment of animals. Right now we have:6 horses (three with babies on the way), 2 goats, 3 pigs, 6 guinea pigs, 4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 pigeons, 3 geese, 2 ducks,2 cockatiels, 1 fish(poor guy has lost all his friends!) and 11 rabbits. We are in the process of adopting another bunny. We should have custody in 2 weeks.
The pigs probably shouldn't be included in the pets section. We are actually raising them to eat. We'll have to wait and see if we can really go through with it. I was a city girl until 5 years ago when hubby moved us to a small town. So for me to find myself in this secluded place is really weird. Weirder still is that i like it. Love it. There is nothing like sitting down to breakfast and seeing deer or moose strolling through the yard. The animals that we own are pretty cool too. You would think that they wouldn't get along, but they do. The cats and dogs sometimes even sleep together.
